Australian-born guitarist, session musician, and songwriter Jedd Hughes plays the Museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. Chris Tuttle accompanies Hughes on keys during this program, recorded on February 9, 2025.
Hughes begins the program with the songs “Back to You” and “Hollywood,” from his 2019 album, “West.” Throughout the program, he answers audience questions and shares stories about his life growing up in Australia, the inspiration behind some of his songs, and what it’s like working with other musicians. Hughes also plays two unreleased songs he’s written, “Low on the Vine” and “Running Low.” Additionally, the program features a performance of “Loving You Is the Only Way to Fly,” a song from Hughes’s newest album, 2025’s “Nightshades,” which he co-wrote with Rodney Crowell and Sarah Buxton. Hughes closes the program with “Big Blue Sky,” a song he co-wrote with Luke Laird.
Hughes has lived in Nashville for almost two decades, has toured with Crowell, and has played on sessions for Ryan Bingham, Brandy Clark, Guy Clark, Vince Gill, Sarah Jarosz, and Patty Loveless.
