Songwriter Trannie Anderson performs songs she has written, shares the stories behind them, and answers audience questions as part of the Museum’s Songwriter Session series. This program was recorded on June 8, 2024.
During this program, Anderson performs three songs she co-wrote with Lainey Wilson: “Country’s Cool Again,” “Heart Like a Truck,” and “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.” She also performs a song written with Anne Wilson, “God and Country”; the song “Missing Someone,” recorded by Dan + Shay; and a song recorded by Cole Swindell, “3 Feet Tall.” Anderson answers audience questions about songwriting, what inspired her as a child, and making the move to Nashville to pursue a career as a full-time songwriter.
Anderson, who is originally from Texas, started writing songs when she was seven years old. Tenille Arts, Gabby Barrett, Hannah Dasher, Madeline Edwards, Randall King, Pentatonix, Nate Smith, and Meghan Trainor have all recorded her compositions. Her song “Heart Like a Truck,” co-written with and recorded by Wilson, became a Top Five Billboard Country Airplay hit in 2023.
