East Tennessee native, bassist, and producer Mark Fain performs songs and shares stories from his career during this Musician Spotlight program, recorded on April 14, 2024. He is accompanied by Brent Rader on keys and John Leventhal on guitar.
During this program, seven-time Grammy-winner Fain answers audience questions and shares stories about his career, who inspired him, and what it was like to play and record with Jack Black, Rosanne Cash, Ry Cooder, Chris Hillman, and John Jorgenson.
Fain performs “Cold Cold Heart,” written by Hank Williams; Bob Dylan’s “My Back Pages;” “Spiritual” by Josh Haden; and Pat Metheny’s “Is This America.” Surprise guest Lee Roy Parnell joins in for a traditional song by Ry Cooder, “Jesus on the Mainline.”
Fain was a longtime member of Ricky Skaggs’ band, Kentucky Thunder. Currently, he is a member of the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band (J2B2) and is a substitute player with the Grand Ole Opry house band.
