: Recording artist, songwriter, and CMT Next Women of Country mentor Kimberly Perry hosts this showcase and discussion featuring CMT Next Women of Country acts Tanner Adell, Mae Estes, Kylie Frey, Emily Ann Roberts, and Tigirlily Gold. This program was recorded on June 7, 2024, during CMA Fest 2024.
During this show, all five acts perform and share their musical journeys to Nashville and the personal stories behind their songs. Adell—who appears on Beyoncé’s song “Blackbiird,” from her “Cowboy Carter” album, and on the “Twisters” original motion picture soundtrack with her song “Too Easy”—performs her singles “Whiskey Blues” and “Buckle Bunny.” Estes—who released her debut EP, “Before the Record,” in 2023; won the Association of Independent Music Publishers Nashville’s 2024 Rising Artist-Writer of the Year award; and has opened for Dierks Bentley, Jackson Dean, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band—performs her singles “Good Ol’ Boys” and “Gettin’ Back Up to Heaven.” Frey—a former “America’s Got Talent” contestant who released her single “Horses in Heaven,” featuring Randy Houser, in 2021—performs “Woman Outta Love,” off her 2024 EP, “Wild Horses,” as well as her single “One Night in Tulsa.” Roberts, who has toured with Dierks Bentley and was a ninth-season finalist on the NBC singing competition “The Voice,” performs “Whole Lotta Little” and “Devil Wears Denim,” both from her debut album, 2023’s “Can’t Hide Country.” Tigirlily Gold, comprising sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, perform their first country radio Top 40 song, “Shoot Tequila,” as well as “I Tried a Ring On.” The duo has opened for Big & Rich, Lee Brice, Kane Brown, Walker Hayes, Ashley McBryde, and LeAnn Rimes.
CMT launched its Next Women of Country franchise, which highlights up-and-coming female country artists, in 2013.
