Lauren Alaina discusses her ten-year anniversary as a country hitmaker while displaying the powerful, wide-ranging voice that led to her becoming a favorite duet partner for other country artists. Appearing with her guitarist, Tico Hernandez, Alaina presents a solo version of “Getting Over Him,” her 2020 duet single with singer Jon Pardi. She also performs the hit “Road Less Traveled,” a song Alaina describes as a creative breakthrough when she co-wrote and recorded it in 2016.
In 2020, Alaina took advantage of the difficulties of missing a year of touring by releasing two EPs, and recording a full-length album slated for release in 2021. She also acted in her first film: a Thanksgiving movie for the Hallmark channel. Her excitement shows as she discusses finalizing details for a tour with Florida Georgia Line. “Getting back on a stage every weekend makes my heart want to burst,” she says.
During her "Live at the Hall" program, Lauren Alaina also delves into her penchant for recording duets, including the hits “One Beer” with Hardy and Devin Dawson, and “What Ifs” with Kane Brown. She recalls how she and Brown grew up in the same area in northern Georgia, attended the same schools, and sang in the same choirs.
In the sixth or seventh grade, Brown told her he had begun writing songs and performing solo, but said he was too shy to sing for anyone. One choir practice, Alaina persuaded him to perform just for her—Brown’s first solo performance for any audience. Their close friendship, she recalls, made their public performances of the steamy “What Ifs” awkward and hilarious for them.
