Viriginia-born songwriter and recording artist Morgan Wade, accompanied by Clint Wells, performs songs she has written and shares stories with the audience. This program was recorded on February 3, 2024, and was presented in support of the 2023 edition of the Museum’s exhibition “American Currents: State of the Music,” which explores the musical developments, artist achievements, and notable events of the prior year.
During this program, Wade performs “Matches and Metaphors,” “Run,” “Take Me Away,” and “The Night,” all from her 2021 album, Reckless, and its 2022 deluxe edition; “Psychopath,” the title track of her 2023 album; and “2AM in London” and “Time to Love, Time to Kill,” both from her Obsessed album, set for release in August 2024. Wade also shares stories about her family, performing, and life on the road with her bandleader, Clint Wells.
Wade has earned nominations for the Academy of Country Music’s New Female Artist of the Year award and the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Act of the Year award. She was also named a CMT Next Women of Country in 2022. In 2024, Wade is opening for Alanis Morissette on her summertime Triple Moon Tour and headlining tours of her own.
