Florida Georgia line takes the stage at the CMA Theater for an interview with the Museum’s Michael Gray, followed by a performance of three of their hits: “Cruise,” “Meant to Be,” and “Long Live.”

By pushing genre boundaries, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley—the duo known as Florida Georgia Line—have become one of the most popular musical acts in America, in any genre. This program with Florida Georgia Line is a taping that took place in the CMA Theater as part of the “Live at the Hall” series on February 6, 2022—opening day of the Museum’s exhibition “Florida Georgia Line: Mix It Up Strong.”

The program explores the duo’s personal stories, upbringings, and musical beginnings. It also includes rare audio recordings that Hubbard and Kelley each made individually before releasing music together as Florida Georgia Line.

In the interview, they describe the way a variety of influences—including worship music, country, rock, and hip-hop—have shaped their sound and image. Hubbard and Kelley discuss how they met and formed Florida Georgia Line, their musical approach, their first performances and tours, collaborating with producer Joey Moi and rapper Nelly, significant career milestones, and specific artifacts they provided for the exhibit.

Backed by a three-piece piece band, Hubbard and Kelley close the program performing “Cruise,” “Meant to Be,” and “Long Live.”
