Recording artist and songwriter Ashley Cooke performs songs she’s written and recorded and shares the stories behind them as part of the Museum’s Songwriter Session series. This program was recorded on March 23, 2024.
Accompanied by guitarist Chauncey Arner, Cooke performs songs included on her 2023 album, “Shot in the Dark,” including the title track, “Getting Into,” “It’s Been a Year,” “Enough to Leave,” and “Your Place.” She also performs “Never Til Now,” which was recorded as a duet with Brett Young and which Cooke and Young performed on an episode of ABC-TV’s “The Bachelorette.” She also performs her 2022 single, “Already Drank That Beer.” Cooke also answers audience questions about writing and performing and gives insight into navigating Nashville’s music industry as an up-and-coming artist and songwriter.
In 2023, Cooke was named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and announced as a participant in the Grand Ole Opry’s Opry NextStage program. She has opened for Luke Bryan, Jordan Davis, Cole Swindell, and Brett Young.
