CMT executive Leslie Fram hosts this showcase and discussion featuring Kimberly Kelly, Catie Offerman, MaRynn Taylor, Kasey Tyndall, and Julie Williams, all involved in the media brand’s Next Women of Country franchise, which launched in 2013 and highlights up-and-coming country artists. This live performance was recorded on June 9, 2023, during CMA Fest.
During the show, all five artists share about their musical journey to Nashville, remember the stand-out moments of their careers, and perform. Kelly performs “Summers Like That” and “Blue Jean Country Queen,” both from her 2022 album “I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen.” She has opened for Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence, and Clay Walker. Offerman performs “OK Cowboy” and her first radio single, “I Just Killed a Man.” It follows four tracks released in 2022, all of which she co-wrote, including “Happyland Trailer Park,” “Don’t Do It in Texas,” “Get a Dog,” and “’Til I See You Again.” Offerman has also opened for Tyler Hubbard and Parker McCollum. Taylor performs “’01,” which she later sang at her June 2023 Grand Ole Opry debut, and her 2023 single, “Make You Mine,” which she co-wrote and was included on her 2022 EP “Something I Would Do.” In 2023, she sang the national anthem before the NFL’s AFC divisional playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. Tyndall performs her 2021 single, “Middle Man,” and “Crystal Methodist,” which she hopes to include on her forthcoming EP. She co-wrote her 2022 single “Jesus and Joan Jett” and her 2023 single with Dylan Marlowe, “Place for Me.” Tyndall has opened for Kane Brown, Jamey Johnson, and Drake White. Williams performs a song she recently wrote, “Tennessee Moon,” and her 2023 single “Big Blue House.” Williams frequently performs with the Black Opry Revue, a showcase featuring Black artists in Americana, blues, country, and folk music.
