A brother-sister musical duo from Nashville, Giri and Uma Peters specialize in bluegrass and old-time music, and despite their youth (Giri is fourteen years old here, and Uma is twelve), the two have already made significant music-career inroads.

By their early 2020 Musician Spotlight at the Country music Hall of Fame and Museum, Giri and Uma had performed at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass, the International Folk Music Awards, the Big Ears Festival, and Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, among other high-profile events and vaunted bluegrass venues.

During the hour-long program, Giri and Uma Peters discuss their musical upbringing and education, musicians that inspired and taught them (including Abigail Washburn and Rhiannon Giddens), and the history and evolution of the old-time music they've been drawn to.

Giri (who plays fiddle, guitar, and mandolin) and Uma (fiddle, clawhammer and gourd banjo) also perform a collection of time-honored songs, including old-time bluegrass tune "Banjo Pickin' Girl" and folk numbers "The Cuckoo" and "Shortnin' Bread," alongside original compositions such as "Running Over Hills."
