Award-winning gospel vocal group the McCrary Sisters—Ann, Alfreda, and Regina—perform songs they’ve performed, recorded, and written and share stories from their life as part of Museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. Joining them onstage during this program, recorded on December 14, 2025, are musicians Robert Lance Lucas on piano, George Kenneth Jackson Jr. on bass, Jeffrey Pegues on drums, and Steven Craig Waters Jr. on guitar.
The McCrary Sisters begin the program with a traditional song, “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” and later sing “Amazing Grace.” They also perform “Love Is the Only Key,” released on their 2025 album of the same name. Throughout the program, the McCrary Sisters answer audience questions about how they work together, what festivals they’ve been part of, the challenges they’ve faced in their career, and the many opportunities they’ve had performing. They close the program with a rendition of “David Dance.”
The McCrary Sisters—which also included sister Deborah until her death in 2022—take inspiration from classic soul, Americana, blues, rock, and R&B music. They’ve recorded and performed with acclaimed artists including Gregg Allman, Rosanne Cash, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Johnny Lang, Martina McBride, Buddy Miller, Carrie Underwood, and Hank Williams Jr. In 2025, the Americana Music Association honored the McCrary Sisters with its Legacy of Americana Lifetime Achievement Award.
