During a 2020 Songwriter Session, singer-songwriter Erin Enderlin—who's written songs for Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, and Luke Bryan, among others—performs live and reflects on the musical journey that brought her to Nashville.
As a little girl, Arkansas native Enderlin saw Country Music Hall of Fame member Reba McEntire on TV, and became determined to have a career in music. While still in college, she co-wrote "Monday Morning Church," which went on to become a Top 5 hit for Alan Jackson. Since moving to Nashville, Enderlin has built a reputation for her character-driven songs, and has also established herself as an artist, recording two critically acclaimed albums, "Whiskeytown Crier" and "Faulkner County." In 2017, CMT announced Enderlin’s membership in the CMT Next Women of Country 2018 class.
In conversation with the Museum’s Michael Gray, Enderlin discusses her songwriting process, reminisces about working behind the scenes at the Grand Ole Opry, and talks about how her career came full circle when McEntire selected one of her songs for an album. She performs that McEntire cut, "The Bar's Getting Lower," along with "Last Call" (a Top 20 song for Lee Ann Womack) and selections from 2019's "Faulkner County."
