During the show, Smith talks about moving to Nashville to pursue music, her songwriting journey, the creative process, and mentors she’s had along the way, like Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Schlitz. Smith performs “Wasting All These Tears,” a Top Five hit on the “Billboard” Hot Country Songs chart for Cassadee Pope; “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” co-written with Schlitz and recorded by Country Music Hall of Fame members Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers; “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” co-written with Meghan Trainor and recorded by Trainor and John Legend; “This Town Is Killing Me,” Smith’s song about the challenges pursing a music career; and “I Can’t,” Smith’s first radio single as an artist, featuring Old Dominion.
In 2022, Caitlyn Smith released her third album, “High,” and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s New Female Artist of the Year award. Smith’s previous releases include her 2020 album, “Supernova,” and her 2018 debut album, “Starfire.” Her songs have also been recorded by Gabby Barrett, James Bay, Garth Brooks, Miley Cyrus, Lady A, Tenille Townes, and Rascal Flatts.
