45m
Multi-instrumentalist Deanie Richardson performs, answers audience questions, and shares stories from her career as part of the Museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. Her fellow Sister Sadie members Dani Flowers and Rainy Miatke join Richardson onstage during this program, which was recorded on April 26, 2026.
During the program, Richardson performs songs she’s written and performed, as well as ones that have inspired her. She plays the traditional bluegrass and fiddle tunes “St. Anne’s Reel,” “Congress Reel,” and “Red Wing,” along with “Marlboros in Muskogee” and “If I Don’t Have You,” both which she co-wrote. Jaelee Roberts and Jeff White join Richardson onstage as guest performers, and fiddle student Nash Greer participates in her last traditional tune, “Back Up and Push.”
Richardson has received numerous International Bluegrass Music Association awards, including Entertainer of the Year. She is a founding member of the bluegrass group Sister Sadie and has recorded and performed with the Del McCoury Band, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Patty Loveless, Bob Seger, Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, Hank Williams Jr., and others.
