Canadian singer-songwriter Donovan Woods plays songs he’s performed, recorded, and written and shares stories from his life as part of the Museum’s weekly Songwriter Session series. This program, presented during AmericanaFest, was recorded on September 13, 2025.
During this program, Woods performs “Man Made Lake,” “Grew Apart,” and “Clean Slate,” as well as “Leaving Nashville” and “Portland, Maine,” both from his 2016 album, “Hard Settle, Ain’t Troubled,” which he wrote with the late songwriter Abe Stoklasa. Woods also answers audience questions and shares the stories behind some of the songs.
Woods has released nine studio albums, including 2018’s “Both Ways,” which won Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards. He co-wrote the “Billboard” Canada Country #1 songs “Feels Like That” (the Reklaws) and “Forever’s Gotta Start Somewhere” (Chad Brownlee), and his songs have also been recorded by Charles Kelley, Lady A, and Tim McGraw. Woods’s songs have also been featured in television shows including “Felicity,” “The Fosters,” “The Good Doctor,” “Legacies,” “Less Than Kind,” and “Rookie Blue.”
