45m
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band lead guitarist and singer Jaime Hanna performs songs and shares stories from his career as part of the Museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. Fiddle and mandolin player Ross Holmes accompanies him during this program, which was recorded on April 6, 2025.
Throughout the program, Hanna performs some of his original work, including “Anytime You Wanna Fool Around,” which Wanda Jackson recorded, and “Every Little Thing About You,” cut by Raul Malo. Hanna also performs a couple of songs he co-wrote with Jonathan McEuen, his cousin and former duo partner.
Additionally, Hanna recounts being offered the job as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s lead guitarist and vocalist, which allows him to perform alongside his father, Jeff Hanna, a founding member of the band. He also shares the experience of being asked to record the song “The Lowlands,” written by Gary Scruggs, for the 2002 album “Will the Circle Be Unbroken, Vol. III.”
Hanna concludes the program with a performance of his original song “Nashville Skyline,” cut by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Prior to joining the band, Hanna toured and collaborated with Gary Allan and the Mavericks.
