Jason Wilber, John Prine’s lead guitarist and musical director for twenty-four years, performs songs he’s written and shares stories from his career during the Museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. This program was recorded on April 12, 2026.

Wilber starts the show by performing the title song from his 2020 album, “Time Traveler,” and “Poet’s Life.” He shares how he started working as John Prine’s lead guitarist and answers audience questions about his career, including his musical inspirations: Johnny Cash, Tom T. Hall, and Marty Robbins. Later, Wilber performs “Watching Picasso,” a song he wrote for Canadian folk singer-songwriter Ron Hynes, and closes the program with “The Last Meeting of the Quakertown Optimist Club” and “Heaven.”

Wilber has performed at iconic venues including Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and Radio City Music Hall, as well as at festivals such as Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He’s also played on the television shows “Austin City Limits,” “Conan,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
