She was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2013; received the Grand Ole Opry’s Bob Kingsley Living Legend Award in 2017; has won numerous accolades and nominations from the Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, and New York Film Festival; and has earned other honors for her hosting, production, and scriptwriting work. In 2023, “RadioInk” magazine named Crook among the most influential women in radio for the tenth time. The program, hosted by the Museum’s Angela Stefano Zimmer, was recorded on August 15, 2023, and was supported by Gibson Gives, the philanthropic arm of Gibson, the venerable American instrument brand.
During the program, Crook discusses her early life in Nashville, the origins of her career, her marriage to and working relationship with Jim Owens, interviewing and befriending country artists, becoming a celebrity herself, and highlights from throughout her lengthy career.
