Hit-makers Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis top the bill for 2013 tribute concert “Always: Singing the Legacy of Patsy Cline,” staged in conjunction with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's 2012-2013 exhibit "Patsy Cline: Crazy for Loving You." Morgan and Tillis are the daughters of Country Music Hall of Fame members George Morgan and Mel Tillis, who were Cline’s friends and colleagues.
Country Music Hall of Fame member Patsy Cline’s brief recording career—cut short by her death in a 1963 plane crash, at age thirty—produced a body of work that has gone on to become among the most influential in modern country and pop history, and the performers at this tribute concert illustrate that influence through stories and songs.
Fellow Hall of Fame member Brenda Lee, who toured with Cline and shared a producer in Hall of Fame member Owen Bradley, hosts, and Grand Ole Opry member Jan Howard (another Cline friend) brings her memories to the event, telling stories about first meeting Cline and eventually attending what would be the singer's final recording session.
Pam Tillis performs "So Wrong" and "Strange," two Cline hits that were written by Mel Tillis. Lorrie Morgan sings Cline's "Leavin' on Your Mind," which appeared on Morgan's 2009 album of country classics. Tillis and Morgan, who have collaborated on two albums, also perform from their own catalogues, which reflect Cline's influence.
Kristen Kelly contributes two more Cline covers, "Walkin' after Midnight" and "I Fall to Pieces," and Lisa Brokop performs “Sweet Dreams (of You),” a song penned by Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Gibson that was among Cline’s final recordings, and which charted in the Top Ten after her death.
