Singer-songwriter Shannon McNally and steel guitar player Fred Newell perform their rendition of “You Asked Me To”—written by Billy Joe Shaver and Waylon Jennings, and released on Jennings's 1973 album “Honky Tonk Heroes”—as part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s “Live at the Hall” series. McNally included the song on her 2021 release “The Waylon Sessions,” a tribute to Country Music Hall of Fame member Jennings.
For the main “Live at the Hall” program, Shannon McNally and Fred Newell join the Museum’s Michael Gray in the CMA Theater to perform and to talk about their musical journeys and the impact of Waylon Jennings on both of their lives.
