Sister Sadie • Live at the Hall, 2022
25m
Bluegrass group Sister Sadie performs live and takes questions from the audience during this episode of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s “Live at the Hall” series, recorded on December 19, 2021.
Band members Deanie Richardson, Gena Britt, Jaelee Roberts, Hasee Ciaccio, and Mary Meyer showcase their harmonies and instrumental skills in original compositions (“Raleigh’s Ride,” “Unholy Water”) and covers (Odetta’s “900 Miles” and Ralph Stanley’s “Katy Daley”), and share stories with the Museum crowd, including how they began playing their respective instruments and how they came together as a group.
Formed in 2012 for an impromptu show at Nashville's The Station Inn, Sister Sadie secured a Grammy nomination in 2019 for their sophomore album, “Sister Sadie – II,” in the Best Bluegrass Album category. That year also brought the group's Grand Ole Opry debut and a Vocal Group of the Year Award at the IBMA Awards (a prize Sister Sadie went on to win for three consecutive years).
In 2020, the group won the IBMA Entertainer of the Year Award, and was featured in the “American Currents: State of Music” exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
