Recording artist Teddy Robb and hit songwriter J.T. Harding swap songs and answer audience questions during this Songwriter Session, held on June 8, 2019, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, during the year’s CMA Music Festival. Along with Robb’s originals, Harding offers songs cut by Kenny Chesney, Uncle Kracker, and Keith Urban.
Harding, who grew up in Detroit, and Robb, an Ohio native who moved to Nashville from Colorado, are accompanied by guitarist Nial Hay.
Chatting with the audience, Robb explains how he landed a record deal and speaks about how a George Strait song led him to pursue songwriting. Upon hearing Strait’s 2008 single “Troubadour,” Robb says, “I felt something I’d really not felt before, hearing a song, and over the last ten years I’ve kind of dedicated myself to trying to recreate that feeling for somebody in a song.”
The set list includes: “Me on You” (Teddy Robb), “Somewhere in My Car” (J.T. Harding, recorded by Keith Urban), “Good Love and Good Whiskey” (Robb), “Smile” (Harding, recorded by his co-writer Uncle Kracker), “Tell Me How” (Robb), “Y’allsome” (Harding), “I Really Souldn’t Drink Around You” (Robb), “Somewhere With You” (Harding, recorded by Kenny Chesney),” and “Remember Me That Way” (Robb, written by Harding and Shane McAnally).
