In support of the Museum’s “American Currents: State of the Music” exhibition, Carter Faith plays a Songwriter Session in the Ford Theater, performing her favorite songs she has written. She is accompanied by her touring guitarist, Stefan Guy, during the program, which was recorded on August 8, 2026.
Faith opens this program with her first single, “Leaving Tennessee,” and “Grudge,” from her 2025 album, “Cherry Valley.” She later performs additional tracks from the album, including “If I Had Never Lost My Mind,” “Misery Loves Company,” “Six String,” and “Bar Star.” Faith also plays “Ain’t Over Me Yet” and “Pearl Handled Pistol,” both from the deluxe edition of “Cherry Valley.” Throughout the session, she shares stories about her musical journey and speaks about her longtime songwriting collaborators, Tofer Brown, Lauren Hungate, and Jordan Lehning.
“Cherry Valley” is Faith’s debut album. Inspired by a real place discovered on the way to a songwriting retreat, the album’s fictional world reflects her observations on love, loss, and resilience. Faith, who was named a CMT Next Women of Country in 2023, has also released several EPs and more than a dozen singles since 2020. She signed her recording contract with Universal Music Group Nashville—now Music Corporation of America (MCA)—in 2024.
