Nashville native Lorrie Morgan is interviewed by the Museum’s Jon Freeman and performs during this program, recorded on June 6, 2024, during CMA Fest 2024. Becky Priest, Morgan Spears, and Todd Woolsey accompany Morgan on piano, guitar, and background vocals during her performances.

While celebrating her fortieth year as a Grand Ole Opry member, Morgan offers insights about her early career at the Opry. She discusses the release of her 2024 album, “Dead Girl Walking,” and performs the title track. Morgan’s other performances include “Except for Monday” and “What Will I Do?”

Also during this program, Morgan delves deeper into her preference for releasing full albums instead of singles, her songwriting, her musical inspirations, and what it’s like working on her podcast, “War Paint with Lorrie Morgan."

Morgan began performing at age thirteen and charted her first single in 1979. Her albums “Leave the Light On” (1989), “Something in Red” (1991), and “Watch Me” (1992) are all certified platinum, and her “Reflections: Greatest Hits” album (1995) is certified double platinum. Her duet with Keith Whitley, “’Til A Tear Becomes a Rose,” won the Country Music Association award for Vocal Event of the Year in 1990. Morgan’s other hits include “Back in Your Arms Again,” “Except for Monday,” “Five Minutes,” “Go Away,” “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” “Watch Me,” “We Both Walk,” and “What Part of No.”
