Kostas Lazarides, known professionally as Kostas, performs and shares the stories behind some of his hit songs as part of the Museum’s Songwriter Session series. This live performance was recorded on October 14, 2023, and presented in support of the exhibition “Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth.”
During this show, Kostas performs songs recorded by Country Music Hall of Fame member Patty Loveless, including her #1 “Billboard” Hot Country Songs chart-toppers “Blame It on Your Heart”—which he co-wrote with Country Music Hall of Fame member Harlan Howard—and “Timber, I’m Falling in Love.” Kostas also performs the Loveless songs “On Down the Line” and “Send a Message to My Heart.” He rounds out the show by performing two songs that have never been recorded: “Dust” and “That’s My Ocean.”
Kostas was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019, and his songs have also been recorded by the Chicks, Holly Dunn, Sammy Kershaw, the Mavericks, Martina McBride, McBride & the Ride, Jo Dee Messina, Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, and Dwight Yoakam.
