Singer-songwriter Gabe Lee performs his original songs on acoustic guitar and piano. During the program, recorded on February 24, 2024, he discusses his experiences growing up in Nashville, telling stories, and making music.
During the program, Lee performs “Rusty,” from his album The Hometown Kid (2022); “Eveline” and “Wander No More,” both from his debut album, Farmland (2019); “Heartbreaker’s Smile,” from his Honky Tonk Hell album (2020); and “Merigold,” “Property Line,” and “Drink the River,” all from his latest album, Drink the River (2023).
Lee also shares stories about himself and his start in music, including his musical influences, his work bartending and storytelling, and his degrees and background in literature and journalism. He also answers an audience question about John Prine’s influence on his style.
Lee made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2023. Rolling Stone named his Honkey Tonk Hell album as one of the “30 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2020.” Lee has opened for Jason Isbell, Los Lobos, Muscadine Bloodline, and Molly Tuttle, and is touring extensively in 2024.
