Recording artist and songwriter Caitlyn Smith performs and shares stories behind some of the songs she has written: “High,” co-written with Miley Cyrus and recorded by both Smith and Cyrus, “Maybe in Another Life,” and “Tacoma,” which Garth Brooks recorded for his 2014 album, “Man Against Machine.” Part of the Museum’s “Live at the Hall” series, this live performance was recorded on June 11, 2022.
In 2022, Caitlyn Smith released her third album “High” and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s New Female Artist of the Year award. Smith’s previous releases include her 2020 album, “Supernova,” and her 2018 debut album, “Starfire.” Songs Smith has written include “Wasting All These Tears,” a Top Five hit on the “Billboard” Hot Country Songs chart for Cassadee Pope; “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” recorded by Country Music Hall of Fame members Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers; “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” co-written with Meghan Trainor and recorded by Trainor and John Legend; and “I Can’t,” Smith’s first radio single as an artist, featuring Old Dominion. Her songs have also been recorded by Gabby Barrett, James Bay, Lady A, Tenille Townes, and Rascal Flatts.
