On stage at the Museum, recording artist and songwriter Ray Fulcher performs a selection of songs he’s written, including “Better Than Me” (recorded by Riley Green and Alabama’s Randy Owen), “Does to Me” (Luke Combs featuring Eric Church), and his own “Girl in It” and “Selling Cars.” Fulcher also shares stories behind some of his songs, talks about what prompted him to pursue a music career, and more.
Part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s “Live at the Hall” series, the program was recorded on August 14, 2021.
Fulcher grew up in the small town of Harlem, Georgia, deciding to move to Nashville and pursue songwriting after being particularly moved by an Eric Church performance. Once in Music City, Fulcher befriended and began co-writing with a then-unknown fellow Church fan, Luke Combs.
Combs’s albums “This One’s for You” and “What You See Is What You Get” include multiple songs co-written by Fulcher—among them, “Does to Me,” “Even Though I’m Leavin’,” “Lovin’ on You,” and “When It Rains It Pours,” all #1 songs on the “Billboard” Country Airplay chart. In 2021, Fulcher released singles “Girl in It,” “Bucket List Beers,” and “Way Out,” leading up to his debut album.
