Three of Brad Paisley’s frequent songwriting collaborators—Ashley Gorley, Kelley Lovelace, and Lee Thomas Miller—talk about their friendship with the country artist and tell stories behind their songs he’s recorded.
Part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Songwriter Sessions series, the program was recorded on February 18, 2017.
Opening the writers round, Lovelace says, “If you have a relationship with any artist, it’s a great thing because it helps you, as far as your ideas and pitching. You’re just closer to getting that song recorded. . . . We’re all buddies with Brad, which gives us a leg up in the sense that we’re close enough to him that we can pitch him all our stupid ideas until, finally, hopefully, we’ll have one that he actually likes.”
With the three songwriters taking turns, the twelve selections include “High Life,” “The World,” “Then,” “He Didn’t Have to Be,” “I’m Still a Guy,” “American Saturday Night,” “River Bank,” “Crushin’ It,” “Start a Band,” “Wrapped,” “Perfect Storm,” and “Today.”
Presented in support of the Museum’s exhibition “Brad Paisley: Diary of a Player” (open November 18, 2016, through May 14, 2017).
