Nashville singer Wendy Moten makes a 2019 visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for a Musician Spotlight, part of a series designed to highlight the careers and musicianship of accomplished touring and session musicians.
Joined by guitarist Gary Talley, Moten performs a broad mix of time-honored country songs, including "Walk Through This World With Me," made famous by Country Music Hall of Fame member George Jones, fellow Hall of Fame member Dolly Parton's "Jolene," and “Walkin’ After Midnight,” a 1957 hit for another Hall of Fame member, Patsy Cline. Moten also shares her own Top Five Adult Contemporary hit, “Come in Out of the Rain.”
During her Musician Spotlight in Nashville, Wendy Moten also shares stories about her musical experiences—both as a fan, and as a performer—ranging from her childhood introduction to George Jones's voice to finding herself drawn to singing country music, and later, signing her first record deal and writing songs with Vince Gill.
Memphis native Moten's extensive resume as a backup singer includes work with Country Music Hall of Fame members Gill and Brooks & Dunn, as well as Michael Bolton, Buddy Guy, Billy Idol, Martina McBride, Michael McDonald, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and Montgomery Gentry. As a duet partner, Wendy Moten has paired with Peabo Bryson, Julio Iglesias, Michael McDonald, and others. In 2019, Moten officially joined the ranks of Grammy-winning Nashville band the Time Jumpers, alongside Gill.
