Nashville-based, Texas-bred singer-songwriter Abby Anderson performs a selection of her music and answers audience questions during this 2019 Songwriter Session in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Ford Theater.
Anderson moved to Nashville just out of high school in 2015, and signed with the Black River Entertainment label two years later. In 2018, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut and was spotlighted as one of CMT's Next Women of Country.
For the Session, Anderson swaps between electric guitar and piano, introducing and performing six original songs, including singles "Guy Like You" and "Make Him Wait." She lists Linda Ronstadt and The Judds among her early influences, and after reminiscing about performing a Judds album cut at her fifth-grade talent show, performs the song "Fly's on the Butter."
During a Q&A with the audience, Abby Anderson recalls her Grand Ole Opry debut as a high point, offers advice to new artists as they start their careers, and cheerily leads a "Happy Birthday" sing-along for one audience member.
