Keyboardist, producer, and vocalist Joseph Wooten takes the stage on January 19, 2020, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, performing original songs and a medley from his work with the Steve Miller Band, and sharing his thoughts on how music brings people together.
Wooten, an avowed Tennessee Titans fan, begins his Musician Spotlight by addressing the parallels between sports and music and the importance of teamwork in both. TO illustrate, he improvises with the audience in the Museum’s Ford Theater. After speaking to his background as a musician and experience growing up in a musical family, Wooten performs the song “Make Me Like a Child,” in tribute to his brother Rudy Lovell Wooten.
Original songs Wooten performs include “I Matter,” “Soul of Freedom,” and “We Are All in This Together.” He shares also excerpts of “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Jungle Love,” “Jet Airliner,” “Rock’n Me,” and “The Joker,” reflecting on his twenty-six years of performing with the Steve Miller Band.
