Five-time Grammy Award winner Keb’ Mo’ joins the Museum’s Peter Cooper for a wide-ranging, intimate conversation and performance, recorded on August 19, 2021, as part of the “Live at the Hall” series.
“I thought I’d be an architect, but music kept luring me over,” he reveals of his inexorable gravitation to a music career.
Born Kevin Moore in Los Angeles, the American roots artist better known as Keb’ Mo’ talks about his upbringing in Southern California, his mother’s support of his interest in music, his friendship with hero Taj Mahal, and his relationship to country music and country artists. He talks about playing a signature guitar owned by the Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers, during the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s "BIG NIGHT (At the Museum)" video program, and about his move to Nashville from Los Angeles in 2010.
Keb’ Mo’ also sings “Good Strong Woman” and “Old Me Better,” accompanying himself on his acoustic guitar.
