Country singer Patsy Cline’s music and legacy are honored during "Sweet Dreams of You: A Musical Tribute to Patsy Cline," held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in 2012. The concert features Emily West, Jessi Alexander, Striking Matches (a duo comprised of Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis), and Mandy Barnett, accompanied by an all-star band composed of Brad Albin, Jimmy Capps, Bob Mater, Johnny Minick, Jeff Taylor, and bandleader and Country Music Hall of Fame member Harold Bradley.
Emily West, sporting a vintage dress and hairstyle in homage to Patsy Cline, opens the concert with a performance of Cline’s hit “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and follows with “You Belong to Me” and “Lovesick Blues.”
Jessi Alexander performs “Leavin’ on Your Mind,” and one of her favorite Patsy Cline blues songs, “Write Me in Care of the Blues.” Before performing “So Wrong,” Alexander also talks about being asked to participate in MCA Records’ Patsy Cline tribute album, and how she selected that “classic” for the project.
Striking Matches shares “Turn the Cards Slowly,” a song Zimmermann says the duo regularly includes in live shows, along with “She’s Got You” and “Let the Teardrops Fall.”
Mandy Barnett, known for portraying Cline in the musical “Always…Patsy Cline,” closes the show with Cline’s “Faded Love,” “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home,” and “Crazy,” a Cline hit written by fellow Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson.
Presented in support of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibition “Patsy Cline: Crazy for Loving You” (August 24, 2012, through June 10, 2013).
