Texas-born, Nashville-based singer and songwriter Stephanie Urbina Jones joins Mariachi Tennessee on stage at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Ford Theater in 2018, sharing country classics interpreted in a variety of mariachi styles—a blend that she dubs "country music with chili peppers."
Their Musician Spotlight setlist includes a mix of songs that appear on Jones’s 2018 album, "Tularosa," which reimagines time-tested country songs in a self-described "honky tonk mariachi" style. Among them: Country Music Hall of Fame member Dolly Parton's "Jolene"; "Is Anyone Going to San Antone," a country chart-topper in 1970 for fellow Hall of Fame member Charley Pride; the Lynn Anderson hit “Rose Garden”; and "Walking After Midnight," made famous in 1957 by Country Music Hall of Fame member Patsy Cline.
Jones and her Mariachi Tennessee collaborators—Emmanuel Cabrera on trumpet, Ernesto Lago on violín, Gabrielle Fuentes on harp, Javier Caudillo on vihuela, Jose Cruz on guitarron, and Patterson Barrett on vocals and guitar—also perform tracks from Jones's 2010 release "The Texicana Sessions," including "Gracias" and "Mariachis Make Me Cry."
